WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies and other similar technologies such as local shared objects, flash cookies or pixels, are tools used by Web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, as well as helping the website to function correctly.

The use of these tools enables the Web server to remember information about the user, such as preferences for browsing sites on that server, name and password, most-interesting products, etc.

COOKIES AFFECTED BY THE REGULATION AND COOKIES WHICH ARE EXEMPT

According to the EU directive, the cookies that require the informed consent of the user are analytical cookies and advertising and affiliation cookies, with the exception of those of a technical nature and those necessary for the operation of the website or the provision of services expressly requested by the user.

TYPES OF COOKIES

Regarding types of cookies, there are five major groups:

  • Analytical cookies: these collect information on the use made of the website.
  • Social cookies: those necessary for external social networks.
  • Affiliate cookies: these allow visits from other websites, with which the website establishes an affiliation contract (affiliate companies).
  • Advertising and behavioural cookies: these collect information about the preferences and personal choices of the user (re-targeting).
  • Technical and functional cookies: these are strictly necessary for the use of the website and for the provision of the contracted service.

COOKIES USED ON THIS WEBSITE

  • PHPSESSID: technical and strictly necessary cookie that contains the session identifier. This is deleted when the browser is closed.
  • cookie_notice_accepted :technical and strictly necessary cookie containing the value of whether the installation of cookies has been accepted. It expires in 1 year from the last update.
  • _ga : Google Analytics cookie enables a service to distinguish one visitor from another. The first time a user enters the website through a browser, this cookie will be installed. When this user re-enters the web with the same browser, the cookie will consider that it is the same user. Only if the user changes browser, will they be considered as another user. It expires in 2 Years from the last update.

  • _gat : This cookie is associated with Google Analytics. It is used to limit the request rate – limiting data collection on high traffic sites. It expires after 10 minutes.
  • _gid: This cookie is associated with Google Analytics. It is used to distinguish users. It expires after 24 hours.
  • wordpress_test_cookie: technical cookie used by WordPress to find out if your browser can accept cookies. It expires at the end of the session.
  • wp-settings-*: technical cookie used by WordPress to store user preferences. It expires in 1 year from the last update.
  • wp-settings-time-*: technical cookie used by WordPress to save session data. It expires in 1 year from the last update.
  • wordpress_logged_in_{hash}: technical cookie used by WordPress to manage the user authentication process. It expires at the end of the session.
  • _icl_current_language: technical cookie used to save the current language. It expires in 24 hours from the last update.
  • _icl_visitor_lang_js: technical cookie used to identify the language of the user’s browser. It expires in 24 hours from the last update.
  • wpml_browser_redirect_test : technical cookie used to redirect the user to the web in the correct language. It expires at the end of the session.
  • wp_woocommerce_session_{hash}: technical cookie used by WooCommerce to manage sessions. It expires in 48 hours from the last update.
  • woocommerce_cart_hash: technical cookie used by WooCommerce to manage shopping carts. It expires at the end of the session.
  • woocommerce_items_in_cart: Technical cookie used by WooCommerce to manage shopping carts. It expires at the end of the session.
  • woocommerce_recently_viewed:technical cookie used by WooCommerce to store last viewed products. It expires at the end of the session.

REVOKING CONSENT TO SET COOKIES / DELETING COOKIES FROM YOUR BROWSER

Chrome

  1. Select the Tools icon
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Show Advanced Options.
  4. In the “Privacy” section, click Content Settings.
  5. Delete cookies: Click All cookies and site data…
  6. Do not allow cookies to be stored.
  7. Click Delete Browsing Data (Clear Cache).
  8. Close and restart the browser.

  1. Select Tools | Internet options.
  2. Click the General file.
  3. In the “Browsing history” section, click Delete browsing history on leaving .
  4. Select Delete files.
  5. Select Delete cookies.</>
  6. Click Delete.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Close and restart the browser.

Firefox

  1. Select Firefox | History | Clear recent history.
  2. Next to “Details,” click the down arrow.
  3. Select the following check boxes: Cookies, Cache, Active logins
  4. Using the “Delete Time Range” dropdown menu, select All.
  5. Click on Delete now.
  6. Close and restart the browser.

You can accept or reject cookies individually in Firefox Preferences, in the History section available in Tools > Options > Privacy.

  1. Select the Safari icon / Edit | Restore Safari.
  2. Select the following check boxes: Clear history, Clear all website data
  3. Click on Reset.
  4. Close and restart the browser.
